TAC-FOIL is lightweight, easy to install, fire retardant as well as providing acoustic insulation to reduce noise transmission through the ductwork system.

Piping insulation prevents heat transfer from steam or hot water pipes to the surrounding air or from surrounding air to cold water lines. Piping insulation provides:

• Safety - Protecting workers from accidentally touching the surface of hot pipes.
• Energy saving - Insulation improves energy conservation.
• Improved process performance - The insulated process system has less temperature fluctuation so ensuring consistent system performance.
• Longer system life - Protects piping system from condensation and corrosion in harsh environments and reduces the need for replacement due to wear.

This material is used in conjunction with rock wool or glass fibre wool.

Foil Laminate products are fire tested in accordance to British Standard BS476 Parts 6 and 7.

• BS 476 Part 6: Method of test for fire propagation for products.
• BS 476 Part 7: Method of test to determine the classification of the surface spread of flame of products.

Class 0 is not a fire test but in fact a classification from The Building Regulations 1991 – Fire Safety. 
In order to achieve a Class 0 rating it must meet the following requirements:

• Achieve a Class 1 fire rating from BS476 Part 7 – Surface spread of Flame.
• Achieve BS476 Part 6 – Fire Propagation.
